AZ Rivals Photo Highlights: Jan 2023

AZ Rivals came into the new year with a dramatic start to the new season. Our top two players, Plastic Dinos and Chompers, would face off in the finals of our first event back, with a victory for Plastic Dinos. Both players have changed characters for this season, opening up the possibility for a shake up at the top of the rankings.

Our next event would see a dramatic game five set between Vstrides and Integral in the early rounds, with Vstrides narrowly escaping defeat. Chompers would find himself in leaving the bracket in forth place after losing to Breadstick and Ash. Ash would then beat Breadstick a second time to make it to a Grand Finals runback against Plastic Dinos. With Genesis only a week away, we would take another week off as all of our TOs where away.

We’d comeback with our first monthly of the season, and the most emotional event of the month. After beating Sawtooth the previous week, up and coming playing Skooli would find himself elimanated after only two rounds from a game five upset from Salazra, appearing for his second regular event. For the second event in a row, Ash would find himself losing to Plastic Dinos in Winners Finals, and faced off against Chompers on the other side of the bracket. After losing the first two games of the set, Ash would make a tense come back to win the set to face off get the run back in Grands. After winning five games in a row, Ash would narrowly emerge victorious in game five of his reset, winning his first monthly.

Documenting our regular events has been a ton of fun, and has been a great way to practice. They’ll be a full photo album of the best photos at the end of the season, but I’ll pick a few out of each event to preview after each monthly. Doing it this way is a great way for me to practice long term, without too much extra pressure. Hopefully you all enjoy the process!
